Loyalty to the state

Everybody's probably heard Atmosphere, but there's a lot of other great hip-hop coming out of Minneapolis. I wanted to share just a bit of that music here. I decided to include just one or two songs per artist to make listening to this stuff manageable. If you like these songs, you can get on these artists' myspace pages or check out the "Related Videos" in YouTube.

Doomtree is a hip hop collective (P.O.S., Dessa, and Cecil Otter contribute): Drumsticks, Traveling Dunk Tank.

Hieruspecs: 5ves, Get Up.

P.O.S.: Goodbye, Bleeding Hearts Club.

Dessa: Mineshaft, If and When.

Cecil Otter: Rebel Yellow, A Hundred Fathers.

Sims: 15 Blocks, No Homeowners.

A good idea...

My tracks will lean a bit to the electronic side, but here are some recent finds:

Common Market, Blue Scholars, Fresh Espresso (all Northwest hiphop artists)
Memory Tapes - Green Knight
Miike Snow - Burial (original and DJ Mehdi remix, see Youtube)
Atlas Sound - Quick canal
Bonobo - The Plug
Cut Copy - Hearts on fire + lots of other tracks
The XX - Shelter (Them Jeans Drum Edit)
The Mary Onettes - Puzzles
Julian Plenty - Only if you run
Fila Brazillia - Airlock holmes
Fever Ray - Triangle walks
One of my favorite places to discover new Indie music is http://digital.thinkindie.com
They have a ton of stuff and they have a "freeload" page for free downloads (tracks and full albums). Maybe you've already heard about it.
